Ellen Shapiro, Ph.D.
Bio
She has been counseling people and facilitating groups
and workshops for over 25 years, and teaching multiple
yoga classes each week since 2001. She believes in the
healing qualities of the practice of mindfulness and deep
presence. She is enjoying working with couples and
individuals who are seeking more fulfillment and joy in
their lives through integrating body, mind, and spirit. She
delights in soulful dancing and expressive movement of all
kinds, and has found a venue to share this love with
others in at the Namaste Yoga studio, of which she is a
co-owner. Ellen completed her PhD in Psychology at
Peabody College of Vanderbilt University, and her Yoga
Teacher 200 hour training at Kripalu Center for Yoga and
Health. She has continued her advanced yoga training
with Yoganand Michael Carroll, and has studied with Bart
ten Berge, Loretta Armer, Todd Norian, Gina Ogden, Jack
Painter, and many others. She is currently pursuing her
500- hour certifications in Pranakriya Yoga and Yoga
Therapy with Yoganand Michael Carroll.
Dr. Shapiro offers psychotherapy,
yoga in group classes and privately
with individuals or small groups, and
workshops and retreats. She
approaches all of her work with
mindfulness and spiritual awareness.
